   David Simons is an oil painter living in Tubac, Arizona. His original oil paintings are distinguished by his brushwork and a tonal realism that captures the light of his subject, whether it be landscape, marine, still life, portrait or plein air. He is a self taught oil painter whose paintings hang in numerous corporate and private collections world wide. David is also an instructor and provides work-
shops with oil, here in Tubac and Tucson Arizona.

Artist Statement
     I consider myself a tonalist, rather than a colorist.
I like to explore the subtle ways that light affects the
landscape. I also enjoy color, but the value relation-
ships in a landscape are what interest me most. Another quality that I like to emphasize in my oil is the abstract
nature of the landscapes that surround us.
      Painting for me is a meditative experience--essential to my well-being, and a necessary part of my life. Painting also brings me great joy, and, I hope, uplifts the hearts of those who view my work.
